Meet Your Kawagoe Tour Guides

Welcome! We are a dedicated team of professional, English-speaking Kawagoe tour guides who live in and love this historic town.

When you book a private tour with us, you are not hiring a guide who simply travels in for the day from Tokyo. Instead, you are exploring the streets with a true local resident. Let us show you the most interesting historic sites, share the local folklore, and introduce you to our favorite quiet side-alleys, craft workshops, and family-run street food stands that most visitors walk right past!

Abhisar

Hello, I am Abhisar

While I lead tours across Tokyo and other parts of Japan, my true passion lies in Kawagoe—my adopted hometown. Having lived here for over 7 years, I have developed a deep, personal connection to the history, culture, and daily life of ‘Little Edo.’

For me, guiding is about bridging the gap between international travelers and the authentic side of Japan and Japanese society.

My goal is to make your day trip from Tokyo feel like a warm, relaxed, and unforgettable walk with a local friend.

Your Friendly Kawagoe Local Guide

Q: Why should I book a local Kawagoe private guide?

Booking directly with a resident Kawagoe private guide offers a more personal and convenient travel experience. Because we live right here in town, we meet you directly at the landmarks (or at the local station) without charging you any guide commuting fares or travel expenses. We introduce you to the fascinating history and unique architecture of our home, guide you to the absolute best photo shoot spots, and point out popular local restaurants, traditional shops, cozy cafes, and famous street food stalls.

Q: Can your tour guides accommodate families with young children?

A: Absolutely! We love hosting multi-generational families, couples, groups and solo travelers alike. Our walking routes are designed to be flat, stroller-friendly, and comfortable. Best of all, children under the age of 10 join completely free of charge on all of our tours!

Abhisar is the guide to book for a Kawagoe day trip from Tokyo. Fluent in both Japanese and English, he makes communication effortless and brings a deep knowledge of Little Edo, including Kurazukuri warehouse street, the Time Bell Tower, Kashiya Yokocho candy alley, and Hikawa Shrine.

He actually lives in Kawagoe, so the experience feels genuinely local rather than scripted. He points out family-run shops that are easy to walk straight past and shares great recommendations for places to eat and explore independently afterward.

What really stands out is his personality. He is warm, kind, easygoing, and genuinely nice to spend time with. There is nothing forced or overly formal about the tour; he is simply a very good guy who makes the experience relaxed and enjoyable. He is also thoughtful, patient, and quick to reply to messages and emails.

The walking tour lasts a couple of hours, leaving plenty of time to enjoy Kawagoe for the rest of the afternoon. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Kawagoe Tour

I absolutely fell in love with Kawagoe! ❤️ I booked a half-day tour through Kawagoe Tours, and it was such a wonderful experience.

Our guide was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and friendly. He has lived in Kawagoe for many years, so he knows the area inside and out—and even knows many of the local shop owners! It made the tour feel very personal and authentic.

I loved discovering the charming streets, traditional shops, and unique atmosphere of this beautiful place. If you’re visiting Tokyo and have time for a trip nearby, I highly recommend visiting Kawagoe and taking this tour. Plus! I am vegetarian and he helped with my lunch, because he know exactly where is most delicious sweet potato noodles 🍜 yummy 😋

Thank you for such a lovely experience! I would happily recommend Kawagoe Tours to everyone visiting Tokyo. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
